This past week I was in Oahu for the first time with my family and Paul’s, and to be honest, the weather sucked. BUT, it did make for lots of great adventure days and I’m ultimately really glad because we got to see a lot of the island that way!
Now that I’m back I wanted to share some of the highlights from the trip and give you some travel suggestions in case you’re ever heading to Oahu!
WHERE WE STAYED: TURTLE BAY RESORT
We stayed at Turtle Bay on the North Shore, which was perfect because we were far enough from the crowds of Waikiki but not so out of the way that we couldn’t still explore. Plus, if you’re at all into surfing, the North Shore would be perfect for you!
FAVOURITE BEACH: SUNSET BEACH
I don’t know what it is that I loved so much about this beach, but it had soft sand and a pretty landscape, and it was right across the street from my favourite smoothie shack… so it was pretty much perfect!
FAVOURITE PLACE FOR BREAKFAST: THE SUNRISE SHACK
I lost count of the number of smoothie bowls I had on this trip but I wasn’t complaining about it. The Sunrise Shack made for the perfect light breakfast or lunch, but if you’re looking for something a little heftier, my favourite lunch/dinner place we tried on the island was Seven Brothers!
FAVOURITE ADVENTURES: HALEIWA & HOOMALUHIA BOTANICAL GARDEN
This snap was shot in the rain before we loaded onto stand up paddleboards and spent the morning on a river in Haleiwa.
Haleiwa is just a small little surf town on the North Shore, but we found ourselves back there multiple times throughout the week to grab food or to look around in the cute little boutique shops!
The last thing I’ll share is these botanical gardens, which might have been the most luscious place that I have ever been to. The rain nearly chased us away but it actually almost added to the experience in my opinion!
So while the weather wasn’t ideal, I am still so happy to have spent the week exploring a new place with the people that I love the most.
Until next time, xx
