A few weeks back I posted a poll on my Instagram, asking you guys what kind of recipes you’d like to see next on my blog, and quick and healthy snack ideas took the prize.
So here you have it, 10 simple snacks that are good fuel and good for you:
1. NO-BAKE ENERGY BALLS
These bad boys were runner up for this week’s recipe blog so I thought I’d put them top of the list. They barely take any time to make, and they’re just the perfect two-bite energy-boosting snack.
If you’ve been dying to get your hands on this recipe since I posted the Instagram poll, DM me and I’ll send it your way!
2. APPLES WITH ALMOND BUTTER
Now, normally I’m not the biggest fan of almond butter, but paired with apples, it’s a match made in heaven.
Plus, almond butter is packed with those healthy fats and lots of vitamin E!
3. CINNAMON CHIA SEED PB RICE CAKE
Crunchy, low-calorie deliciousness.
A go-to breakfast on-the-run for me.
4. PROTEIN SMOOTHIE
In case you missed this post on my Insta story a couple of weeks ago, here’s my favourite smoothie recipe:
- Frozen banana slices
- Frozen blueberries
- Frozen avocado chunks
- Plain greek yogurt
- Protein powder
- Peanut butter
- Unsweetened almond milk
TIP: Make individual freezer packs of your favourite frozen fruits/veggies for smoothies to save yourself some time when you’re looking for a quick snack!
5. PROTEIN BARS
Protein bars aren’t always the healthiest snack out there, but they’re super convenient and they’ll keep you tied over until you can get a good meal in you.
TIP: Read the labels to make sure you’re getting good ingredients, and you aren’t choosing bars that are packed with sugars!
6. GRAPES AND CHEESE
Name a better duo, I’ll wait.
Crisp & crunchy grapes are a tasty snack on their own, but cheese in small doses is an excellent source of calcium, protein, and fats.
7. VEGGIES AND HUMMUS
I’ll be honest, I would choose fruit > veggies 10/10 times, but the one thing that always gets me eating my veggies is hummus!
8. EDAMAME BEANS
Steamed, and with a little bit of seasoning. That is all you need to do to make yourself a deliciously healthy snack.
9. AVOCADO TOAST
Avocados are another great example of a healthy-fat food, and they’re filled with fiber, potassium, and antioxidants!
My favourite way to do up my avocado toast is with smashed avocado, a little bit of seasoning, alfalfa sprouts, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze to top it off.
10. CREAM CHEESE BERRY TOAST
The perfect combo of sweet and savory all on one piece of toast.
At first, I was skeptical, but I promise once you try this you’ll never go back.
I hope this list can make your lives a little easier in the busy school weeks to come!
See you guys back on the blog in two weeks with some self-care tips for the busy school season to help you stay happy and healthy as we move into the craziness of November, and soon after, exams!
