If you live in Calgary, or if you’ve ever visited Calgary, you know it’s not the most Instagrammable city, by any means.
Calgary is dry and dusty, and most of the time, the weather is not ideal.
In light of increasing my activity on Instagram with my blogging, I’ve set out on the search to find the most Instagram worthy places in this city, and this is what I’ve come up with:
CALGARY CENTRAL LIBRARY
The Calgary Central Library is located in the heart of the city and it’s beautiful both inside and out. The library just opened last year, in November of 2018, as the flagship library of all Calgary Public Libraries.
If you haven’t been, make sure you save it to your summer bucket list for a gloomy day!
Visit here: 800 3 St SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0E7
The home of the National Music Centre, conveniently located right next to the public library!
Studio Bell is open to the public seven days a week from 10 am to 5 pm as a museum and is also available as a host for private events!
Visit here: 850 4 St SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0L8
What looks like an abandoned pop-up of old graffitied shipping containers, has a few hidden murals like this one, full of fun colours and pretty sunflowers.
Visit here: 1020 2 Ave NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1T6
REID’S ON 17TH
Have you ever just wanted a huge white wall for the background of your photo? Reid’s is your place.
The side of Reid’s, a massive stationary store on 17th Ave, used to be home to a bright blue wall. Recently, Reid’s has painted over that to bless us with this beautiful white brick.
Visit here: 710 17 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2S 0B7
SIMMONS BUILDING IN EAST VILLAGE
Once a mattress factory, now a gorgeous historic building in East Village that is shared by one of my favourite restaurants, Charbar + Simmons Rooftop Bar, Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters, and the delicious Sidewalk Citizen Bakery.
Apart from this beautiful building, East Village is a lovely place to spend an afternoon or evening!
Visit here: 618 Confluence Way SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0G1
LUKE’S DRUG MART
Your classic coffee shop, just, it’s in a drug store that sells soft-serve and a million little succulents, and it has adorable signage outside.
Visit here: 112 4 St NE, Calgary, AB T2E 3R9
THE PLAZA THEATRE
How retro and cute?! The Plaza Theatre in Kensington is an old-fashioned movie theatre that shows both classic and new flicks, and has cheap(er) tickets than your regular cinema!!
Visit here: 1133 Kensington Rd NW, Calgary, AB T2N 3P4
Saskatoon Farm is technically past Calgary’s city limits, and closer to Okotoks, AB, but it’s well worth the visit if you live in the south.
The farm has a bakery, a restaurant/cafe, flowers for purchase, the space to host weddings and events, and plenty of pretty photo backdrops!
There you have it, 8 locations to up your Instagram game!
Be sure to tag me in your post if you visit any of these places so I can see what you do with these spots!
